Typical defects of polymer floors
Any floor covering has its own service life, after which it needs to be repaired or replaced. - Peeling of the coating. This defect can be of three types - with delamination of only the decorative layer, together with the primer and the top layer of the base (concrete or cement screed). Such defects are the result of violations of the technology of installation of self-leveling floors.
- Loss of appearance. The causes of this defect are usually natural wear, incorrect selection or poor quality of the material.
- Chips, potholes. This is the result of mechanical influences on the coating - shocks and falls of heavy objects. Most often, chips and potholes also capture the bases of self-leveling floors.
- Cracks. This is the most insidious type of defect. Typically, the polymer coating itself does not crack. Cracks are almost always the result of subfloor failure. In this case, the repair of polymer self-leveling floors may mean a complete redesign of the coating.
The main methods of repairing polymer floors
Polymer floors are a solid coating, so any defects on them look especially defiant. Defects of natural wear are eliminated by applying two or three new layers of coating. Elimination of delaminations is much more difficult. Here, a complete removal of the polymer layer and deep processing of the base, including restoration of the strength of its surface, may be required.
