• Disappearing Kyiv. Yuri Rybchinsky: “On the monument to Lobanovsky, my lines are: “You are sitting on a bench, and the stands are raging nearby ... Yuri Rybchinsky read a poem train

    10.04.2022

    Special opinion

Yuri RYBCHINSKY: “When the last day comes, it is easier for someone who could succeed spiritually to leave. I can imagine how hard it will be for Abramovich to die ... "

For his 64th birthday, the famous Ukrainian poet prepared a gift - the musical "White Guard", for which Yuri Evgenievich wrote poetry

With Yuriy Rybchinsky, a poet, playwright, author of dozens of musicals, one of the founders of the Ukrainian stage, without whose songs “Wild Geese”, “Leaking Water”, “Green Maple”, “White Crow”, “Vivat, King!” it is impossible to imagine—we were talking not so much about poetry as about politics. We started with the premiere of his new offspring "The White Guard", whose heroes are the last people of duty and honor in the history of our recently common Fatherland, and ended with "freedom, equality and fraternity." During the Orange Revolution, Yury Rybchinsky stood on the podium next to the future President Yushchenko, and in 2005, in an interview with Dmitry Gordon, he admitted that he had never experienced such a feeling as on the Maidan before - except perhaps at school history lessons, when you want to go to Rome as a gladiator Spartacus or take the Bastille, as in Paris in 1789. Alas, it took not only my interlocutor, but most of us, quite a bit of time to be convinced of the truth of the statement of the French philosopher Pierre Boiste: “In revolutionary storms, people who are barely fit to row an oar master the helm.”

"THE PHRASE: "QI HANDS DID NOT STOL ANYTHING" CAN BE INTERPRETED DIFFERENTLY"

    — Yuri Evgenievich, I want to ask you not only as a "White Guard", but also as a "perfumer" - do the people of Kiev have any hope of seeing these two musicals of yours?

    - The issue of copyright for "Perfumer" (based on the famous novel by Patrick Suskind) has already been resolved in the territory of the former CIS, so I can bring this musical performance to Kyiv, and Yekaterinburg residents will be the first to watch "The White Guard" ... For several years in a row, every May I I am doing a premiere: in 2007 in Moscow - "Parfumer", the music for which was written by the composer Igor Demarin, and I - the libretto and lyrics. Last year in Kyiv at the Ivan Franko National Drama Theater - "Edith Piaf. Life on Credit" with music by Victoria Vasalatiy. This May, Yekaterinburg will host the musical The White Guard, which will feature the music of Mark Minkov, the composer who wrote for Pugacheva Love Not Renounce and Summer Rains.

    - In "Perfume" and "Edith Piaf" - the theme of love passions and talent, in "The White Guard" - revolutionary passions. Do you regret that you were on the Maidan?

    - What can I say now - I regret it, I don’t regret it ... This is not disappointment in what happened to us - they betrayed us, not we them.

    - Such an emotional outburst happened - like first love ...

    - You don’t impose an answer on me (you asked a question and immediately answer it) - everyone had it in their own way. Unfortunately, politicians coming to power are not responsible for their election promises. I understand that not everything can be done, but there are the main, fundamental ones, for the sake of which people voted for them.

    - Many people think that your poem "Train" was written about Viktor Yushchenko...

    - Only one chapter is devoted to him: "Victor chooses a horn."

    - Aren't these lines?

    Yesterday-the day before yesterday
    Ti viv on the barricade
    Yesterday-the day before yesterday
You are with us in hell liz.
    Ale to yourself tee
For the sake of that rule,
    Yaku ti with us together
    Hating when.

    - This is a warning to anyone who goes into power:

    ...Now you're sabotaging
    - having killed the prince in himself,
having killed the prince in himself,
    when you become king...

By the way, the poem was written back in 2002, the magazine version was published in 2003, and in 2005 a book edition appeared.

I have known Yushchenko for a long time. Power is the most difficult test, and a person, getting into this highlands, cannot always breathe rarefied air. As mother Joan of Arc said when she was heading to the Dauphin Charles of Valois: “I wish you good luck, girl, but remember: the wind blowing at the heights of power is dangerous for mere mortals.”

    - Today - on the throne,
you are our king in law,
you are our king in law,
    but we are not yours...

    — Power requires a personal example. The phrase: "Qi hands did not steal anything" is not convincing in anything - it can be interpreted in different ways. To put it bluntly: “They didn’t steal, they don’t steal, and they never will.” I will show you many people who did not steal, but give them power and they will start immediately. Unfortunately, this is how it happened in our politics: if you have power and you don’t steal, most people at the top consider you a fool or a black sheep ...

The people are now beheaded. There is an uncontrollable horse galloping to no one knows where, followed by a headless horseman, followed by his head blown off by the wind - this is the whole Ukrainian history, unfortunately. "Bow b the head with the head, bow be the head on the horse."

“WHEN GOING TO THE MAIDAN WITH ANTI-CORRUPTION SLOGANS, WE GOT CORRUPTION 10 TIMES BIGGER THAN IN THE TIMES OF LEONID KUCHMA”

    - Viktor Andreevich is trying to turn society towards the national history, talking about spirituality ...

    - If the President of the country utters some words, he must do something. People are also not simpletons: they hear what the leaders of one, another, third party say, but thanks to the media they know very well how they really live ...

Leo Tolstoy, one of the richest people in Europe, let his peasants go without waiting for the abolition of serfdom, he built schools, walked barefoot in a shirt, did not eat meat and tried to live like a simple person. Even his children and wife did not understand why he refused huge royalties for his books. So if you are the conscience of the nation, you need to comply with this. If you want your culture to flourish, act, create laws according to which it is not taxed, money is invested in Ukrainian cinema, books, patrons are exempt from taxes. If the Verkhovna Rada does not accept these laws, dissolve it. Be a strong person, and then, as in kindergarten: "Fool." “You are fools yourself.”

    — Sometimes an idealist leader is ahead of his time, and he has no one to rely on...

    - Yushchenko is not a leader at all. Yes, a person with moral principles, who truly loves Ukraine (by the way, it is difficult for us to understand what it means to be young, beautiful, full of strength and pay for the presidency with your health)...

    - It is not difficult to be an honest politician - there is almost no competition.

    - The president, the leader of any state needs to be a high-class personnel officer (this is not given to everyone) - like academician Korolev, who was not a great scientist or designer, but worked with physicists, mathematicians, engineers, being a brilliant organizer.

“Or Ford with his eight-year-old and his hatred of academics…

What about Lobanovsky? There are people who know how to create a team. Unfortunately, the time has passed for those who were good at the stage of the "orange revolution" in the fight against the past - a wall-beating machine with a cast-iron woman perfectly destroys old walls, but is useless when building new ones. In addition, in many countries, both the president, having taken the oath, and the members of the government, having received ministerial portfolios, immediately leave their parties, because they need to represent the whole people, and not some part of it.

Elections are ahead, and the main violation of human rights, in my opinion, is not in the lack of transparency of party lists, but in the fact that the majority of the population is not represented in power - people are non-partisan, and one can get into the Verkhovna Rada only on party lists.

The party is an ideology. There cannot be a party named after Ivanenko or Petrov, there was not even the name of Lenin or Hitler. There are ideas in the world: anarchist, liberal, constitutional-democratic...

A peasant or workers' party is a dubbing of a trade union, because today I am a worker, and tomorrow I received a higher education and became an intellectual. It is no less strange to unite party members on a geographical basis, after all, we have not heard of the Party of the Regions of the United States or the regions of France. Why then vote? Suppose I am an anarchist or a constitutional democrat, and there is no such party on the lists, does it mean that I, like millions of other people, should not go to the polls?

    - Ordinary people, golden people - a golden man is easier to sell ...

    - From the very beginning, we have chosen the model of a criminal-oligarchic state. Votes are bought for a lot of money, and Marx's formula "commodity-money-commodity" turns into another one - "money-power-money". It is no secret that the purchased power makes it possible to increase the money spent. Unfortunately, going out to the Maidan at the end of 2004 with the slogans of the fight against corruption, we got 10 times more corruption than in the days of Leonid Kuchma.

I think if it were possible to rewind the tape, Viktor Yushchenko, returning to 2005, would have recruited a team of completely different people (regardless of whether they are from the Party of Regions or from the socialist, for example).

    - Voltaire also remarked that kings know no more about the affairs of ministers than cuckolds about the tricks of their wives ...

    - Alas, for success it was necessary to have a different experience ... Yushchenko, Tymoshenko, Yanukovych are the children of the system that began to be created by Leonid Kravchuk and really got stronger under Kuchma.

    PHL Photos

All revolutions come from envy. What is the Orange Revolution? The students of Leonid Danilovich Kuchma were very envious of him on a subconscious level, they wanted to have the same thing as his. "The fight against corruption", "Bandits - prisons!" (for me, it’s not a lattice, but a wall!) - these slogans were initially unrealistic. Otherwise, they would also have to send themselves to places not so remote.

    - General Lebed, God rest his soul, once complained: "Well, let's hang Chubais, and then what?"...

    - Some had more, others had less, but our current rulers were formed in the old system of values and could not have come true without the help of Kuchma. The situation is like in Titanomachia - ancient Greek myths about the struggle of the Olympian gods with the titans that gave birth to them ...

“EVERYONE KNOWS THAT SEATS IN THE VERKHOVNY RADA ARE BUYED AND GET MORE EXPENSIVE”

    – At the exhibition of the most expensive artist of our time, Damien Hirst, which recently opened at the PinchukArtCentre, there is a painting “Revolution” – a huge orange canvas thickly covered with real dead flies...

    - If we return to the topic of disappointments ... When during the counting of votes one team deceived another and it was called a crime at the state level, the people waited: the people associated with the falsification would go to jail so that this would not happen again in the future. Since, apart from talk, it ended in nothing, there was no visual lesson, I'm not sure that there will be no fraud again in the next presidential or parliamentary elections. Why not falsify the results, if for this you ...

    - ... they will again be sent to head the law school of Odessa ...

    - We are not talking about personalities - one could name all the names, but time has passed. A huge number of people are now saying: we are not for anyone at all. Since you go to the polls, become President, Prime Minister and do not fulfill your election promises, then you are deceiving your people, and deceiving your own people is a crime. Where are the examples for someone in power to bear criminal responsibility?

What kind of trust in a politician can we talk about when everyone understands: if you steal a thousand hryvnias in a coat store or from a neighbor, they will put you in jail, but due to fraud with the hryvnia exchange rate, billions are stolen, and no one is punished ...

The model must be changed - naturally, it can no longer be communist, but many institutions of the former government, which did not suit the most thinking part of the intelligentsia, were, in principle, honest. Everyone knows that seats in the Verkhovna Rada are bought and become more expensive with each new term.

    - Open secret...

    - Except that in the days of Kravchuk it was free or cost a penny, and now even a candidate for city council deputies spends up to three million dollars.

    - Great investment! By the way, cheap politicians are especially expensive for the country.

    - If there are almost 300 millionaires in the Rada, this already says a lot. So why hold elections? It is necessary to make an auction of deputy seats. This is transparent: four and a half hundred mandates, whoever gives more is the people's deputy. Let people know: Akhmetov, for example, Kolomoisky or Ivanov spent so much. Power will be bought, as it is now, only openly - de facto will coincide with de jure. The money will go to the state treasury - for pensions, equipment for hospitals, construction of social housing ...

    - An honest politician - one who, having been bought once, remains bought, no matter what?

    - All this is similar to disputes about the legalization of prostitution, to end which there is no way anywhere in the world: some give money for pleasure, others accept and provide certain services.

    - As Marlene Dietrich said: "A country without a brothel is like a house without a bathroom."

    - The sale of the soul also requires legalization.

“WE STILL BELIEVE THAT THE PATIENCE OF THE PEOPLE IS UNLIMITED”

Are the people waiting for a firm ruler?

    - Firm and fair, to come and put things in order. In Soviet times, we in Kyiv or Moscow could return home at three o'clock in the morning (watch the film "July Rain") - we were not afraid of anyone. Now we are trembling - they can shoot the objectionable in full view of the crowd, turn around and leave.

“Our streets are perfectly safe, only people on the streets are dangerous,” one of the former mayors of Philadelphia formulated this problem ...

“I can imagine what will happen in America when the standard of living there drops, a motley society where the common denominator is only the dollar, many families have firearms. I'm afraid we will live to see a new civil war in the United States... Now the attitude to material wealth is being revised all over the world...

    — Because of the systemic crisis?

    - Many people call it a crisis, but I say the end of the world. The light that America was for us - a country of freedom and equal opportunities. It turned out that the American model of the consumer society leads to a dead end.

“The states have lived in debt for decades ...

    - The standard of American life was high largely due to other people's money. This is the pyramid of Mavrodi, only on a national scale (no wonder the pyramid is depicted on a dollar bill). In short, not only hard times await us.

    - It's not a problem that they give half a ruble for a ruble, but that they will give in the face for a ruble, as Saltykov-Shchedrin wrote?

    - The most important thing for our country is to stop in time to think where to go. The course that Ukraine should move is more important than the hryvnia exchange rate.

    - In America, a person who withholds funds from taxes is considered a state criminal. He can be imprisoned for life, sometimes they give 125 years, or even 300 ...

    — The fiscal system, like it or not, exists. And we are all sure that the upper echelon of power in most cases either does not pay taxes at all, or reduces them by 10 times ...

    - ...by registering real estate, shares and accounts for the adoptive parents of the fifth wife or the disabled grand-nephews on the paternal side of the second cousin.

    - When you read their declarations, it is not clear where they got limousines, yachts, villas from. Kings did not live in such houses! A society in which lies, corruption, zombification of the population, a thirst for enrichment in any way flourishes cannot exist for a long time. Everything that Marx and Lenin wrote about is not fiction. It is possible to a certain extent to create a critical mass of people using their voices. The Western world is based on the parity of the very and not very rich people (but not the poor). We still believe that the patience of the people is unlimited, although the events of 2004 showed that this is not so.

    - It seems that the second time, or rather, the third, Maidan will remain half empty ...

“For social cataclysms, society does not need to be seething all the time,” it was calm in 2003, and in 1916, and in 1904. December 2004 corresponds to 1905 in Russia, so to think that there will be no 1917 means to hope: now I’ll steal tens of millions, my son will graduate from a university in London, and then we’ll quickly escape for the cordon. Suppose a dozen or two oligarchic families manage to fly away, but not all of them.

When protest energy accumulates, it requires an outlet, and it is not yet known who will use it best.

History is dangerous because everything is cyclical, there are no cures for revolutions and wars, anything can happen. We live in a very fragile world, where only a return to spiritual values can give (not to say a bright future) a normal life. After all, what are biblical commandments? Confirmation that a person is inclined to steal, kill, commit adultery. That is why it is said: “Do not steal,” “Thou shalt not kill,” “Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife”... Schools should be engaged in upbringing, and not just education. When even educated, but spiritually ill-bred people come to the very top, we have the Verkhovna Rada.

“PUTIN IS TRYING TO RESTORE NOT THE RUSSIAN EMPIRE, BUT THE COUNTRY OF THE USSR WHICH WE HAVE BEEN FOR ALMOST 70 YEARS...”

    - It's sad when life forces lyricists to become public accusers...

Of course it's easier to blame. The retinue plays the king: she can make a smart one stupid, a talented one - mediocre. So if you are crowned, you need to place people around you very carefully and correctly, know them and never rely on your brother, godfather, matchmaker ...

    - Or if you lean, then with an iron hand? Pinochet said: "I'm not a dictator, I just have such an expression on my face."

    - Pinochet is not our option.

    — And Putin?

    - Well, God forbid! Unfortunately, Putin is trying to recreate not the Russian Empire, but the country of the USSR, which we were for almost 70 years, with its Mausoleum, a one-party system... The idea that Russia should be the same state as all European ones is fucked up. The country has been turned into the property of one man and his clan.

    - Clan by clan is kicked out?

    - This was not even under Stalin. Putin could almost recreate the Union, and not by force - at the expense of gas and oil to make the average standard of living in the Russian Federation such that Belarusians and Ukrainians (and the material moment is very important for people) would say: we also want to live in union with Russia .

A country where a pleasing oligarch sits in London, and another (the same, but objectionable) is imprisoned, is for most of us, Ukrainians, a visual aid of how we don’t want to live.

    - The intelligentsia understands that we don’t want to, but the bulky people? I will never forget how the director of the satirical film "Fountain" Yuri Mamin breathlessly, lowering his voice to an enthusiastic whisper, pronounced Putin's name: "Vladi-i-ymir Vladi-i-imirovich" ...

    - The same and Mikhalkov, and Bortko ...

"It's DANGEROUS TO FALL INTO THE ACCEPTS WITH AMERICA AND RUSSIA"

    - Some confuse the concepts of "fatherland" and "your excellency." But to a simple Russian, that is, to the layman, whether there is freedom of conscience or not, it doesn’t matter: the TV will quite honestly show them football, shooters, serials, staged talk shows ...

    - It's your own fault. Where is the so-called conscience of the nation, those who brought Yeltsin to power? They could have created an entire faction in the State Duma and achieved results, only they dissolved - because they were given the opportunity to go into business and suddenly become rich. The Soviet government did not even create the raznochintsy intelligentsia that existed before 1917. Most (except dissidents) are lackeys: “Vladimir Vladimirovich, Iosif Vissarionovich, what do you want?” This intelligentsia used to poison Pasternak, Daniel, Sinyavsky, Vysotsky with pleasure ...

    - ... Brodsky ...

“If it were only our misfortune, but, alas, it is the same all over the world. Now yellow or black will pour in - it does not matter, because they will have nothing to eat there. And they will have to set up a cordon - not to let them in or, God forbid, shoot them so that European countries are not flooded like rats. You can't even imagine what could happen! The Holodomor in Ukraine, which we talk about so much, threatens to turn into a planetary phenomenon.

By the way, the Holodomor is only part of the crimes of the Bolshevik Stalinist regime. And the Gulags, and the system of double standards?! Everything must be condemned. If we do this, then by arranging our own Nuremberg trials, where the issue of not only gas chambers or the Holocaust would be decided.

    - The trial of the communists?

    - Over the idea, over the people who implemented it ...

    - ...and have long decayed in the graves. You wrote in your "Train":

So quiet. I look so clean
Nemov died the remaining communist ...

    - The communists were different: Pavka Korchagin or Vasily Gubanov, played by Evgeny Urbansky, are also right, like millions of decent talented members of the CPSU, destroyed by the same social machine. The communist system is no less inhumane than the fascist one. Even Engels warned: the idea of communism is not suitable for the Slavic peoples. All three slogans of the French Revolution were perceived by us in a distorted way. We say: “Liberty, equality and fraternity”, not understanding that the French put into these words freedom of enterprise, equality of everyone before the law and fraternal equalization in the rights of representatives of different nationalities living under the French tricolor. On our soil, freedom has grown into lawlessness, equality into leveling, and brotherhood into Russification.

“Now the crisis has leveled everyone in uncertainty about the future. By the way, the man who allegedly started this crisis recently committed suicide - the financial director of the American mortgage agency Freddie Mac, 41-year-old David Kellerman.

    - America will come out of the crisis, it has both strategic reserves and the reins with which it rules the world. Therefore, from my point of view, the best position for Ukraine is not to be fastened to anyone, not to be at enmity with anyone, like Finland, Norway, Switzerland ...

    - ... with its cantons - also, after all, regions where they speak German, French, Italian, but everyone is fine.

    — It is dangerous to fall into the abyss with both America and Russia. We still have the right...

    - ... to your own abyss.

    - To your oasis, where you don't have to gorge yourself on bacon and tomatoes, but build a moral country. When the last day comes, it is easier to leave for those who, looking back, rejoice that they were able to take place spiritually. If you leave the villas, yachts, the Chelsea team ... I can imagine how hard it will be for Abramovich to die.

    Disappearing Kyiv

Yuri Rybchinsky Only when the people begin to study their history, and the revival of the nation will begin

Rehearsals of the musical “Edith Piaf. Life on Credit”, the libretto to which was written by Yuri Rybchinsky, and on May 22 the famous poet will celebrate his birthday. Our conversation began with these two events, but was not limited to them.

    "Sparrow" named Victoria

Yuri Evgenievich, there is an unprecedented surge of interest in the work of Edith Piaf all over the world. Books are published, films are released. Kyiv also does not lag behind in two theaters - "Wheel" and "Suzir'ya" - performances about the famous singer are staged, and soon the Franks will please the premiere. Why Piaf After all, the anniversary of the singer has already passed in 2005. Unless the world will celebrate at the end of this year 45 years since her death ...

I wrote this piece a long time ago. A few years ago I finished it as a musical together with a young, very talented singer and composer Victoria Vasalatiy. The play sat on my desk for four years. Of all the pop singers that I have ever heard, my favorite has always been Edith Piaf since childhood. And then it happened that among my students, whom I produced, after Natasha Mogilevskaya, Pavel Zibrov, I had Victoria Vasalatiy. I noticed that the timbre of Victoria's voice is surprisingly similar to Piaf's. Together with Vasalatiy, we wrote a song about a singer performing on the street, but dreaming of becoming the queen of chanson. This is how the image of the young Edith Piaf arose. Victoria wrote music to my poems and sang this song herself, which was a great success (it was performed at the "Song Opening Day", in "Song of the Year", "Person of the Year"). That's when I got the idea - to make a musical for Vasalaty so that she could not only sing, but also play Edith on stage at the beginning of her stellar career, this legendary "Sparrow" (this is how the pseudonym Piaf is translated from French). It can be seen that this topic has been living in me for a long time, because I very quickly, literally in three days, wrote the dramatic basis of the play. Then we started working on musical numbers. The plot of the musical covers the period from the birth of the singer to her first big success of performing at the famous ABC Concert Hall. You know, I saw many performances when dramatic actresses tried to portray something to the soundtrack of Edith Piaf, but I wanted the actress to sing herself, not imitating the famous Frenchwoman. After all, no matter how good the voices of Tamara Gverdtsiteli or Mireille Mathieu sound, the copy is still worse than the original. For me, as a playwright, the first Piafian period was interesting, because no one knows what songs Edith sang in military barracks, on Parisian streets and squares, until she became famous. In the style of French chanson, Victoria Vasalatiy wrote music. And the dramatic move gave her scope for creative imagination.

Why did you choose to stage your musical Theatre. I. Franko

This is my favorite theatre. In addition, he has experience in musical performances - musicals and rock operas. On the Frankish stage, The White Crow, Aeneid, The Witch of Konotop, which have already gone down in the history of the Ukrainian stage, were staged, and now Natalka Poltavka is being successfully staged. Our musical was arranged by a wonderful musician and composer Anatoly Karpenko. The director of the performance is Igor Afanasiev (ex-Kiev, and now an American).

What is the place of Paris and France in your life and work?

Significant. You could say dominating. The French theme has been present in my work for a long time. I wrote the rock opera The White Crow dedicated to Joan of Arc, a cycle of songs for Olga Kryukova - Paris - Marseille, Aurevvoire, Last Tango in Paris, which formed the basis of another musical about Paris. It's probably no coincidence. My favorite singer is Yves Montand, and the singer is Edith Piaf. The greatest woman of all time for me is Joan of Arc. Apparently, each of us, in his youth, chooses for himself that layer of foreign literature that is close to him. For some, this is Russian literature, for others, Latin American. And I was brought up on French music, poetry, literature, painting. This is close to my nature. I understand the French character. It is probably no coincidence that I always refer to the city of Paris in my work.

Was Victoria Vasalatiy in the French capital

Was. She needed to plunge into the atmosphere of France in order to feel and understand the mood of the Parisians and their amazing singer. I had the opportunity, thanks to my friendship with the then Ambassador of Ukraine to France, Yuriy Sergeyev, to arrange a tour of this amazing city for her. There was one mystical moment. After visiting numerous museums and the Moulin Rouge, we went to the Père Lachaise cemetery, where Edith Piaf is buried. It was the month of May. Warm sunny day. The sky is almost cloudless. But when we cried over the grave of the singer, it suddenly began to rain. The sky cried with us. I do not remember such a heavy rain in my life, and then even a thunderstorm thundered. Five minutes later, everything suddenly stopped as suddenly as it began. It was probably a sign that Piaf herself heard us. It was five years ago. Perhaps it is symbolic that the premiere of the play will also take place in May.

    Date already known

We can say that the premiere is a gift for your birthday. Previously, you did concerts on this day at the Palace "Ukraine" ...

It was in Soviet times and in the first years of independence, when the rent of the hall "Ukraine" was not so expensive. Now I arrange concerts there only for anniversaries. In 2010, I will definitely make a creative evening in this palace. But last year, on my birthday in Moscow, the premiere of the rock opera Perfumer, which we created with composer Igor Demarin based on the novel by Patrick Suskind, took place. By the way, this is also a Parisian theme, except for the second part of the play.

    How do you choose topics

I don't always choose them. Sometimes the topic chooses me. Paris chose me. This is a museum city. At different times, it was built in such a way that it is impossible for a non-specialist to understand what century the building is. It seems that all of Paris arose at once. One can feel in this city a careful attitude to history, architectural taste, style, lack of eclecticism. Everything new that the 20th century brought has been taken out of the historical territory. It seems that as this city was born, it froze for centuries. Such unity of all streets, squares.

“I no longer believe in fairy tales”

What do you think Kiev lacks compared to Paris?

The taste is lacking. Somehow I was asked what is the main quality that a Kiev mayor should have. I answered that the main quality of any mayor is a sense of proportion. We remember historical footage when the Germans walk along the Champs Elysees, through the Arc de Triomphe, and the French stand along the streets and cry. But it never occurred to any of them to blow up historical buildings together with the conquerors. They understood that together with the enemy they would destroy Paris. And in our country, the communists wiped out the best churches from the face of the earth, destroyed the center of Kyiv. So the destruction of the capital of Ukraine began a long time ago. And since 1991, the destruction of the historical center of Kyiv has continued. Here and there, skyscrapers grow that do not fit into the ancient appearance of Kyiv and distort the face of the city. I'm afraid that soon grandchildren-great-grandchildren will have to tell about our capital from postcards. Perhaps because we have not had a mayor for a long time - a native of Kiev. To love Kyiv with all your heart, you need to be born here. Read The White Guard by Mikhail Bulgakov as a teenager. Wander along Andreevsky Descent, admire the majestic temples and golden domes of St. Sophia and Lavra. After all, Kyiv was the center of Orthodoxy even during the time of the Russian Empire. Although the main capital of the state passed from St. Petersburg to Moscow. But it turns out that wars and invaders destroyed historical Kyiv less than our engineers and architects in peacetime.

Nostradamus said that the revival will begin from the Hyperborean land - that is, from Kyiv. What do you think

I don't believe in fairy tales anymore. Even the Orange Revolution in Ukraine did not produce any results. We are an amazing people. Even Chernobyl taught us nothing! But after it it was necessary to discuss collectively any decision of the authorities. When planning a nuclear power plant on Pripyat, the authorities did not ask the opinion of the townspeople, and Chernobyl was built on the river above the city. It seems that officials have never even read the fable about the wolf and the lamb. And they don’t know that water flows down the river, so any radioactive contamination will definitely affect the quality of water in a huge city. What kind of revival can we talk about now, when it is now impossible to safely drive through the city! Plugs everywhere! It is impossible to walk along Khreshchatyk - cars stand on the pedestrian part, and no one pays any attention to it. It seems that there is a technological revolution in our capital, and cars have seized Kyiv, forcing people out of it. It's horrible!

Once in one of your interviews you said that poetry is akin to religion...

In any religion, there is scheming when an elder leaves worldly life. But he accepts people and gives wise advice. The same is true in poetry. For me, the basis is poetry outside of time, outside of the state. The language of poetry is akin to dead Latin or Old Church Slavonic. This language is not like journalistic or prose language. Poetry seems to be connected with the earth, but at the same time - above the earth. Poetry, like music, is designed to connect earth and sky. Poetry is the need of my soul. If I don’t write for a month, I don’t find any return on creativity, then this is no longer me. I'm not interested in myself then. If they told me that you would be rich, you would have power, just don’t write poetry, I would refuse.

    Do you have favorite lines?

Perhaps, the Arabic couplet "You are alone, you are alone with the one who has no one, no one." There are no comparisons, metaphors, no epithets. And what depth! You can walk all day and think about me About love About the Motherland About mother

You are a bilingual poet. And what poems do you have more in Russian or in Ukrainian

Poems are more in Russian. There are 70 percent of them. But there are more songs in Ukrainian. There is an inverse proportion - only 30% of Russian speakers. And they were created for those singers who do not live in Ukraine and do not know the language. When I write in Ukrainian, I think in Ukrainian. And vice versa. The thing is, I grew up in a bilingual family. Born in Kyiv. Dad had two higher educations before the war. He was of enormous growth, came from the war disabled, without a leg. Due to the fact that he needed a sedentary job, he also went to study at the financial and economic institute. My mother also fought - she was a military doctor. I am from a generation born from those who went through the war. In childhood, so that I would not get scurvy, every summer my parents sent me to a village in the Chernihiv region. When I returned from there, I spoke only Ukrainian. Mom didn't even understand. After all, she comes from Donbass, from Debaltseve. And my father was fluent in Ukrainian. He was friends with the Rylsky family. He loved Sosyura's poetry and knew half of his poems by heart, considered him the Ukrainian Yesenin. When questions arose about translating business records into Ukrainian, my father, who then worked at the Ministry of Finance, was asked to edit the documents of the Cabinet of Ministers. Having grown up in such a bilingual family, I feel good in any language environment. I declare as a philologist, the more languages a person speaks, the more deeply he understands and knows his native language. Related Slavic, say, Polish, Ukrainian add depth to Russian. Each language is like a certain musical instrument double bass, piano, violin, trumpet, saxophone. I envy those people who can play many instruments.

There is an opinion that Russian suppresses the development and prosperity of Ukrainian in our country...

To understand the relationship between the Ukrainian and Russian languages, you need to understand the history of the issue. After all, earlier on the territory of Kievan Rus, neither one nor the other language existed. There was an ancient proto-language - Old Slavonic. And do not assume that the Russian was brought to Kyiv. It developed in the same way as the Ukrainian one in this territory. Different languages arose here and historically coexisted side by side for a long time. There simply could not be monolingualism in Kievan Rus. After all, the trade route from the Varangians to the Greeks passed through its land. And the locals knew both Greek and Scandinavian languages. In addition, there were Pechenegs, Scythians, Sarmatians. And the people of Kiev also communicated with them. And this is impossible without knowledge of languages. That is, the people who inhabited this territory have long been multilingual. It would not be bad even now for our children to learn Ukrainian, Russian, English in order to speak with the whole world. I think that now there is no need to create a hawk from the Ukrainian language that will peck at others.

    ahead of time

Many creative people are very superstitious and do not want to share their plans for the future. You are not one of those...

I do not. I plan to publish a new collection of poems soon. I have a lot of unproduced musicals. I plan to "bring them to the people." This is the "White Guard", "Last Tango in Paris" ...

Yuri Evgenievich, you had an idea in response to Lloyd Weber's "Cats" to create the musical "Dogs". He remained the idea

The idea is, one might say, half realized. I wrote the libretto in verse form when I was vacationing in Croatia. But there is no music for it yet. And there is not even a composer yet who would undertake to bring this to life.

You once said that your poem "The Train" was originally conceived as a play. Have you ever thought about returning to the original idea after the release of the book and still writing a play?

You know, it may well be. I already thought about it. So a dramatic "Train" or even "Airplane" may soon appear.

Your songs are sung not only in Ukraine, but throughout the post-Soviet space, in particular, Tamara Gverdtsiteli, Alexander Malinin, Alla Pugacheva, Philip Kirkorov, Lolita, Irina Allegrova, Anzhelika Varum...

For Malinin, I became the catalyst for the idea to make a program consisting entirely of Ukrainian songs. He brought it to life. And Tamara Gverdtsiteli is my favorite singer, the best in the entire post-Soviet space. Few female voices make a man cry. And her voice is just that.

They say poets are ahead of their time. It seems that you once encrypted the current history of Ukraine in your White Crow.

    - I wrote "White Crow" when the state of Ukraine did not yet exist, in 1986. I wrote about the Middle Ages. The period in which we lived under Soviet rule, I considered the Middle Ages. After all, people with average feelings, average thinking then led the country. The play is about this. But it really exactly coincided with the situation in independent Ukraine. In the last production made by the Benyuk and Khostikoev Theater Company, I did not change anything in the text. Truly, no one knows how our word will resonate...

    Natalya Zinchenko

The legendary songwriter, People's Artist of Ukraine Yuriy Rybchinsky celebrates his 70th birthday in 2015. In neighboring Russia, where the state uses artists as an ideological weapon, from such a date they would definitely make an event of a national scale. Awards, honor, numerous TV shows on federal channels would be crowned with a pathetic concert in the Kremlin Palace.

    That is, wait...

How should this model be changed?

Is it right that the CPU was banned?

    Which artist helped him?

According to the website "Glavkom". www.glavcom.uaLegendary songwriter, People's Artist of Ukraine Yuriy Rybchinsky celebrates his 70th birthday in 2015. In neighboring Russia, where the state uses artists as an ideological weapon, from such a date they would definitely make an event of a national scale. Awards, honor, numerous TV shows on federal channels would be crowned with a pathetic concert in the Kremlin Palace.

In Ukraine, everything is different. Not! Rybchinsky was also honored - the President awarded the artist with the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise. And our hero of the day sincerely, without irony, rejoices at this difference. Yuri Evgenievich assures that he did not expect to receive such attention. And he says about the concert that he will arrange it himself, without the support of the Ministry of Culture, just to wait for peacetime.

And neither the signs of attention from the head of state, nor the membership of the son-deputy in the faction of the Poroshenko Bloc, do not restrain Rybchinsky from a sharp word addressed to the current government. “The President is not Jesus Christ,” Yury Evgenievich explains in a conversation with the Commander-in-Chief. The speech about the government is even tougher: "This government is not a kamikaze, this is a government of criminals." The poet, who predicted the Maidan in his works, is now making the leaders of the state old from a new popular indignation.

"I issue a warning to those who are preparing this Maidan." They shout: if you criticize the authorities, then you are the hand of Moscow. Not! The fact is that everything that our officials do today is a sign that they are not only the hand of Moscow, but also the leg, ”Rybchinsky believes.

Yuri Evgenievich, in May you celebrated your 70th birthday. Usually, on such dates, artists prepare something special for fans. What are you up to this anniversary year?

Now I work in several genres. I write simple poems, poems for songs and plays. He graduated from the musical about Marilyn Monroe, which is called "Marilyn. Crazy in love ", composer Victoria Vasalatiy, with whom we wrote the musical" Edith Piaf. Life on credit "(staged by the Franko Theater -" Commander-in-Chief "). I am also finishing the rock opera Paganini with composer Vitaly Volkomor.

Who will star in the musical about Marilyn?

We agreed with the Inter channel that we will do a television casting for various roles, and there are many roles. The main events in the life of Marilyn Monroe occur around men. This is her producer Darrell Zanuck, director of the 20th century Fox film studio, this is her first husband, an outstanding baseball player Joe DiMaggio, French film actor Yves Montand, with whom she had an affair in Hollywood, playwright Arthur Miller, President John Kennedy, also the role of Jacqueline Kennedy and the one who is considered the assassin of Kennedy - Lee Harvey Oswald. There is still such a person - the soul of Marilyn Monroe. I have a certain mystical figure in every play, for example, the White Lady in Edith Piaf, and here it could not have done without it. I love mysticism.

You had to celebrate your anniversary without your traditional creative evenings. They have always been attended by many Russian artists with whom you have been associated with many years of cooperation. Who are you in touch with today?

So, every anniversary I did a concert. But at present I have decided not to do a concert, because I cannot invite, say, Tamara Gverdtsiteli, Alexander Malinin, Anzhelika Varum ... I generally think that at this time, while we are at war, we should not do such concerts. Doing a concert dedicated to the war is very depressing, and singing funny songs at this time is not appropriate. Need to wait. When you are celebrating something, and at this time many people have grief, this is not right.

    That is, wait...

Yes. I'm waiting for better times. Many years ago I wrote the song "Victory", I'm waiting for this victory to come.

I did a jubilee television concert at UT-1. Concerts of past years sounded on different channels, they were repeated during my anniversary. Doing a creative evening now is, firstly, a colossal financial and nervous cost. In addition, the Ministry of Culture has not helped much in such events before ... and now it’s not even worth making such requests. But the time will come and I will make a concert. There is no big problem in this. But I want to do it when people are in a normal mood.

Which of the Russian artists do you keep in touch with?

Now there are not so many of them. With the Russian prose writer Viktor Erofeev, who always wrote and writes about Russia in such a way that no one from the Ukrainian has written like that. He remained the modern Saltykov-Shchedrin for Russia. What is his famous Encyclopedia of the Russian Soul worth. Now at the Moscow Drama Theater under the direction of Armen Dzhigarkhanyan they are staging the rock opera The White Crow (authors Yuri Rybchinsky and Gennady Tatarchenko - Commander-in-Chief), then, of course, I keep in touch with Armen Dzhigarkhanyan with the composer Maxim Dunaevsky.

Gverdtsiteli, Malinin were also always in Rybchinsky's orbit. Today, these ties are not interrupted?

All of them are forbidden to go with concerts in Ukraine. Whether their position is positive, negative, or neutral. I remember with what pleasure we worked with Sasha (Malinin - "Glavkom") when he decided to make a concert of two parts from Ukrainian songs. He learned Ukrainian, without an accent at all. With what pleasure he worked on it. And he sang "Wild Geese", and "Magic Violin", and "Night which is monthly." He traveled around Ukraine and was a huge success because he is in love with a Ukrainian song.

That is, if Russian artists are afraid that if they visit Ukraine, then they will be punished upon their return?

They will not be told anything, but they will disappear from television, from radio, suddenly they will start having problems with concerts. They are allowed to go only to the Crimea, to the “DPR”, to the “LPR”. There, please...

Lolita Milyavskaya was recently in Kerch with a performance ...

Yes I know. She sang Ukrainian patriotic songs by Vakarchuk.

But she has recently made offensive statements about Ukraine. In particular, she criticized Ukraine's desire for Europe, cursed the sanctions imposed on Russia.

These are her problems. But her mother and daughter live here (in Kyiv - "Glavkom"). Every person, especially during such difficult events, can make mistakes, but there is no need to deprive her of the chance to correct this mistake. There is no need to put an end to a person forever.

Has your attitude towards Lolita changed now?

She was a talented performer, actress, and remained so. But his political views ... With the epidemic that exists in Russia, when everyone is zombified, there is nothing surprising that she also fell under this influence. It doesn't surprise me.

Her repertoire also includes your songs ...

So, Ukrainian, by the way, written with the composer Arkady Ukupnik, "Night Taxi", "I hate you because I love you so much."

... Did you have a desire to ban them from singing?

No. Let him sing. I believe that Ukrainian songs that are heard in Russia work for the image of Ukraine.

Not so long ago Andrey Makarevich gave a concert in Kyiv. He is one of those artists who are not afraid that something in Russia will think about them, or they will start to poison.

He is not afraid. Oleg Basilashvili, Armen Dzhigarkhanyan, Liya Akhedzhakova, Boris Grebenshchikov, Yuri Shevchuk, Eldar Ryazanov - many Russian famous people are not afraid. Many people have a heartache for Russia and Ukraine, they understand what the fascisization of Russia can lead to.

One of the harshest critics of the Ukrainian government among Russian artists is Iosif Kobzon. He called our government "the executioners of Donbass", called for revenge Ukrainian for the blood. You, as far as is known, have not spoken to him for many years, although you were friends. Did you try to convince Kobzon now?

We did not talk after the first Maidan, then we started talking again. It was very insulting for me when he called our Ukrainian anthem Nazi. What did he find Nazi there? Even with all the disrespect for the Russian anthem, which was turned around for the third time, I still never called it Nazi. It's the national anthem. I think, in this way, former friends strike themselves out of the ranks of friends ... Kobzon is a sick person, so I don’t want to say anything so offensive, because when a person is sick, you need to feel sorry for her. This is evidence that many people left the Soviet Union, but they remained there, some with one foot, and some with two. He sings "Lenin is so young", as he lives in that time. If he rejoices over this, then he probably wants to return to Soviet times. He insults Ukraine, although he himself was born there (Kobzon was born in the Donetsk region - "Glavkom") ... Moreover, he says things that did not exist: allegedly when he was little, he saw Bandera in the Donbass. But Bandera detachments were never there.

Did the fact that Kobzon insulted the anthem cross out your relationship?

Yes. The anthem, which is consecrated by the blood of the people who died on the Maidan, is a holy song. It cannot be treated like some kind of hit.

“For Ukraine, the loss of Lorak or Povaliy is a big loss”

Many of our singers continue to travel to work in Russia. These are Ani Lorak, Potap and Nastya, Svetlana Loboda, Taisiya Povaliy and others. Do you think the criticism against them is justified?

This could somehow be condemned if we officially announced that we were at war with Russia. But we don't have that. Why condemn them, when not only our president, but also many of our oligarchs and businessmen have business in Russia, and Russian business is now operating on our territory. In addition, millions of our people work in Russia because they need to support their families. They work there because they don't have a job here. I would understand if there was so much work here, and they went to Russia ... In addition, from my point of view, artists representing Ukraine and going to sing in Russia are doing a good deed, because since their people come there, they come to Ukraine. I have no doubt that Svetlana Loboda, Taya Povaliy, Ani Lorak, Potap and Nastya are no less patriots than any of us. But they go to work. They do not go to Putin, do not speak at political rallies. Didn't Okean Elzy go on tours in Russia? Petersburg, for example, they were banned. But if such a team as Okean Elzy travels around Russia, is that bad?

We already gave Russia a colossal number of pop singers and singers. Probably 75% of the Russian stage of the highest echelon is ours. This is Larisa Dolina, and Lolita, and Anzhelika Varum, and Natasha Koroleva ... Someone, of course, really wants them to never return in order to look, so to speak, on the “top floor”. But I think that for Ukraine the loss of such singers as Lorak or Povaliy is a big loss. Where can they work here? There are no concerts here. If mom does not feed, then what's wrong if a neighbor's aunt gives a boob. As long as war is not declared and there are diplomatic relations, as long as our factories work there, and they are here, then I don’t see any crime in this.

Last year, Ani Lorak's concerts were blocked even in Odessa and Kyiv ...

This is the same as the persecution of Makarevich in Russia.

Your son spent his big creative evening last year and allegedly boycotted Taisiya Povaliy, for whom he wrote many songs in the 90s. The media wrote that Evgeny Rybchinsky, it seems, did not want to see the singer at his concert, because she asked for a large fee.

So, in fact, Evgeny did a concert, turned to Igor Likhuty, who called him too high a price. The fact is that Zhenya wrote a lot of songs for Taya when she started and it was done for free. Therefore, it struck him morally.

You attend all the concerts of Irina Bilyk in the capital. But it seems that your songs are in her repertoire?

I made one song for her for a duet with Zibrov - “Man and Woman”, but this does not mean anything. I love her not because she sings my songs, she is an outstanding singer, she made a whole era in the Ukrainian stage.

She is often condemned for the fact that she began to sing in Russian since the early 2000s. And this is a typical situation for many Ukrainian singers who have decided to expand their market in this way.

And what, they stopped speaking Russian in Ukraine? Did the Russian language come to us from Russia? It arose on the territory of the ancient Slavic speech, as well as Ukrainian, Belarusian. The Russian language does not belong only to Russia, just as the English language does not belong only to England. Speech is not hostile. No need to put an equal sign: Russian is Russia. Ukrainian culture, from my point of view, is multi-winged. Ukraine gave geniuses who wrote in Ukrainian, geniuses who wrote in Russian, geniuses who wrote like Sholom Aleichem in Yiddish, geniuses who wrote in Polish, and even like Paul Celan, German. If we take everyone, return them and say that they are ours, not give them away to Russia and other countries, then we immediately become a great world culture.

How often do you get songs ordered now?

If we take 2013, then at least 2 songs a month were ordered to me. Now, due to the fact that there are fewer concerts, performers have fewer opportunities to buy songs, but, anyway, I write, for example, for Laima Vaikule, all the time. In 2014, Laima sang in the final of “Song of the Year” our song “Farewell of the Slavyanka” with Vladimir Volkomor, after which we wrote a few more songs for her.

Ordered by Pavel Zibrov, also young singers. But less, much less. And all this is temporary. It's like a piano: there is no instrument with only white keys, and there is no piano with only black keys. If you see a piano with only black keys, then lift the lid (laughs).

What determines the price per song?

First of all, on behalf of this or that author. If this is a song by such composers as Viktor Drobysh or Igor Krutoy, or Konstantin Meladze, then, of course, it will be more expensive than in another.

And what does maestro Rybchinsky depend on for you?

Who do you write for? I can also write for free, say, for Gverdtsiteli or for Malinin - give one song a year. And so ... This is the market, you know.

“Criticizing does not mean doing bad things to the president”

Today your son Eugene is in politics. He is in the Petro Poroshenko Bloc. Do you give advice to your deputy son?

When he wants to consult and if I understand this, of course, I give him some advice. But he is a very independent person, so he turns to me very rarely.

He works in the Committee for the Affairs of Veterans, Combatants, ATO Participants and People with Disabilities. I told him that the institute of military pharmacies should be restored, so that there would be separate pharmacies for the military and their families. People are now buying medicines for huge amounts of money, I think it is a crime on the part of the state to allow this. The state should give them medicines free of charge or at reduced prices. By the way, in the USA the army is sacred, and the army has always had an institution of military pharmacies. In our country, it was canceled, because medicine has become the subject of business.

Your son often criticizes the president.

Criticizing does not mean doing bad things to the president.

“Ukrainians did not draw any conclusions for themselves after the first Maidan. Therefore, they got the president many times worse than in the previous one (Yanukovych).” These are your words. And now how do you assess the changes in the country?

We have an interesting trend: after Kuchma, each subsequent president was worse than the previous one. I said this even before the last presidential elections.

That is, under Kuchma, you personally lived the best life?

Under Kuchma, a huge number of concerts took place under his patronage, it was possible to find sponsors. More than 70 Ukrainian song contests took place then a year. Song festivals were held in the Crimea, there were conditions for this. If everything went this way, if conditions for sponsorship were created even further, if patrons and sponsors were given the opportunity to sponsor culture, if there were laws under which culture would not pay taxes, then we would have a different culture. We would then no one would go to Russia.

And now a lot of time has passed, not only after the first, but also after the second Maidan. Do you think there are any changes?

The authorities have done everything to ensure that the third Maidan takes place. The collapse of the hryvnia, the increase in the cost of utilities, I, as a pensioner, was cut off 15% of my pension. In the time of Yanukovych, less was done against people in 3 years than in a year with this government. Therefore, I believe that this government is not a kamikaze - it is a government of criminals.

You have to really dislike your people to do such things. At the same time, billions of dollars of deals are going on through the Customs Service, through the sale of property and everything else. But with each Maidan, our people have more and more experience...

Parents, children with weapons in their hands every day, risking their lives in the East, are fighting. What are they fighting for? They are fighting for their homeland, for the future. What future can children and grandchildren have if this model of the state remains? It is necessary not to engage in reforms, but to change the model of the state. Reforms are like repairing a bad car: from time to time, some part is inserted into a rusty Zaporozhets, either from a Mercedes or from a Citroen.

    “I don't 'croak'. I issue a warning…”

How should this model be changed?

It is necessary to make such a model of the state as the Czechs, Poles, that is, people's capitalism. Otherwise, nothing will change. The biggest drawback of our model is that those who are corrupt officials are appointed to fight corruption. Corruption does not exist below: how will judges decide something when they themselves are 100% corrupt. We need to change everything - the police, the judges.

So we are now creating a new militia ...

When in one of my poems I predicted that there would be a Maidan. And so now everything goes to this. I don't "croak". I am giving a warning to those who are "preparing" this Maidan. They shout: if you criticize the authorities, then you are the hand of Moscow. No. The fact is that everything that our officials are doing today is a sign that they are the hand of Moscow. Arm and leg. If what they are doing does not work for the Ukrainian people, then it means that it works for the enemy. It seems that through the Minsk agreements they cannot respond to the enemy with fire, they do not have the right to expel the enemy with weapons. The authorities are playing around, they have turned the war into a business. It's shameful.

When artists go to power, is it positive?

From my point of view, the Verkhovna Rada should consist of other people. You need to have two educations - legal and economic. There may be a very good person, or a very conscientious person who risked her life, but laws need to be written in parliament, and there are such deputies now, they also do not know the legal deadlines. We have not yet had a full-fledged parliament. Now there is such an attitude: we like the person, then let's elect her to the Verkhovna Rada. You can not do it this way.

Are you talking about people like the Cossack Gavrilyuk?

He would do more good if they gave him a company, let him fight. It's like appointing me director of a military plant. Parliament must be professional, it is not an amateur club of "good people". And I would ban the party, by the way.

Because our country is poisoned by the so-called partisanship. But real parties must be ideological. There are not so many ideologies: maybe communist, socialist, social-democratic, liberal, anarchist... And we have the Ivanov party, the party of Petrov, Petrenko, Sidorenko. These are clubs. This is business. Which party can be on a geographical basis - I'm talking about the Party of Regions? For 70 years, the whole party life of people in our country has been one party. We literally ate the same food every day. Imagine that you have been eating oatmeal for 70 years, and suddenly you are invited to a banquet with a variety of dishes. What will happen to you? Gastritis, ulcer and so on. In our country, people now will not really explain what kind of ideology the Batkivshchyna, for example, or the People's Front have.

However, your son is in parliament as part of the presidential faction.

He is not a party member, he is a majoritarian. He just went under the auspices of the BPP.

Is it right that the CPU was banned?

In order to ban any party, it is necessary to hold something like the Nuremberg Trials. If today it is possible to ban the CPU, then tomorrow it is also possible to ban any of the other parties that are in parliament. It's not civilized. Civilized - to decide everything through the court, which determines the sentence.

“I would say to artists - do you want to become popular? Please gather 70,000 people!"

Petro Poroshenko presented you with the Order of Yaroslav the Wise on your 70th birthday. What does this difference mean to you?

For me it was unexpected. If I have earned the Order of Yaroslav the Wise, then I am grateful to the President. But I did not apply, no one submitted any documents, it was his initiative, which means he thinks so. Every person enjoys being appreciated.

Does it make sense today in the titles of people's, honored artist?

We need to change the system of awarding these titles. When the government notes who to give, it's like in the Soviet Union. From my point of view, it is not the power to celebrate - this should determine the people, that is, the number of people who come to concerts. The authorities may not give Vakarchuk the title of People's Artist. But he draws 70,000 spectators, and other artists cannot gather such a large number of people. I would say to other artists - do you want to become folk? Please gather 70,000 people!

What pension do you receive as a people's artist?

When I retired, at the age of 60, my pension was about 5,000 hryvnias. At the exchange rate at that time, it was about $ 1,000. Then, the dollar suddenly doubled, my pension began to be $ 500. Today, if you consider that 15% of my pension was taken away, this is about $ 200. That is, the state stole $800 from me. The state that I must love, for which I must work.

Is your creative colleague, composer Igor Poklad, co-author of your most famous hits, seriously ill? What is his condition today, and did the artists respond to your call to help him?

He underwent major operations. His health is now more or less normal. God grant, he has many more years to live and write. He is the genius of Ukrainian music.

    Which artist helped him?

Everyone helped when there were operations. And Meladze, and Rotaru, and Likhuta with Povaliy, a lot of artists helped, I won’t name everyone.

Tomorrow the poet Yury Rybchinsky is 60. He is one of those who never notices his own years. And this is felt in every word of his: both in the song, and in the poem, and in the conversation... Perhaps that is why Yuriy Rybchinsky has many friends and connoisseurs of his work. He worked with Vladimir Ivasyuk, Igor Poklad, Igor Shamo, Nikolai Mozgov. His songs are performed by Sofia Rotaru, Nina Matvienko, Tamara Gvardtsitelli... He is loved. He is respected. During a conversation between The Day's correspondent and the hero of the day on the program I welcome you... at the First National, his compatriot was congratulated by his compatriot with the song "Green Maple" by relatives and friends. However, The Day managed to do it first:

The editors of The Day sincerely congratulate you on your 60th birthday and wish you good health as a person, and, of course, as an artist, creative ups and inspiration so that Ukraine will hear more than one of your new songs. So how, Yuri Evgenievich, are you planning to celebrate?

On my birthday, I usually gather friends outside the city - in Irpin, Kiev region. I love to celebrate with family and friends. Of the famous people will be my godfather - singer Pavel Zibrov, friend and singer Vladimir Zasukhin, composer Igor Poklad, relatives ...

Yuri Evgenievich, if you were asked to write a memoir, what chapters would it include? Please name those events and people who became fateful for you?

I think that if there were no fateful people, there would be no such events in my life. First of all, I would write a chapter about Les Stepanovich Tanyuk, to whom I came with my first poems as a schoolboy. He was then a directing student at the Theater Institute. He took care of me, helped as a poet, was a mentor for many years. After that, Les Stepanovich became a teacher for me both in life and in creativity. There would definitely be a chapter dedicated to the Russian poet Yevgeny Alexandrovich Yevtushenko, who for me was and remains a teacher in poetry. I started talking to him when I was in high school. I'm still friends. I will dedicate a separate section to Evgenia Deitch, the wife of Alexander Deitch, who became my second mother, helped me in life ... Of course, there would be a chapter dedicated to my first composer Igor Poklad, as well as co-author and friend Volodya Ivasyuk ... I would devote a separate section to a sport that I have been involved in for many years. Football would be a subsection to it. I've been a fan of Dynamo, probably since the age of 8. Football is a part of my life. Of course, there would be a chapter dedicated to his wife and son. In my memoirs, I would tell about the amazing love story of my grandparents. There would be many chapters... I would not single out separate chapters for Kyiv and for Ukraine in general, because everything I write and create is permeated with love for my native land. Without the capital, without Ukraine, I can’t imagine my life at all. I felt this especially when I worked for three years in Moscow. Then I realized what real nostalgia is! ..

    - You are a person about whom it is customary to talk - with a bright social temperament ...

Absolutely right! Fortunately, I am not only a poet and playwright. In everything that happens in society, I want to participate. As a schoolboy, I dreamed of a revolution. I studied all the revolutions of the world: the French, the October... Apparently, I still have the character of a revolutionary.

    - And what pleases and upsets you as an artist and citizen in our life?

I am glad that Kyiv is growing. I think we have possibly the best mayor in Europe. I am also glad that new times have begun in Ukraine, when for the first time a person who has nothing in common with the practice that was in the Soviet Union became President. Does it upset? I'm generally an optimist...

    - Today will be the final of Eurovision. Are you following this competition?

I do not follow these events too closely due to lack of time. Now I am working with director Nikolai Baranov on “my own Eurovision”. On June 3, an anniversary concert will take place at the Palace "Ukraine", where I will be congratulated with my own songs by Tamara Gvardtsitelli, Alexander Malinin, Lolita, Igor Demarin, Anton Makarsky, Alexander Ponomarev, Ani Lorak, Pavel Zibrov, Natalia Mogilevskaya, Nina Matvienko, Vladimir Grishko and many others.

    - Readers will not understand us if we do not ask you about your future plans and future projects...

Soon a separate collection of my poem "Train" will be published, which was published in full in Literary Ukraine. In July, I start staging a musical at the National Academic Ukrainian Drama Theater. Maria Zankovetskaya in Lviv, dedicated to the birthday of Edith Piaf. Also this summer, my wife and I are planning to go to the Biennale in Venice. In the autumn I plan other concerts, releases of books, collections and the like.

For his 64th birthday, the famous Ukrainian poet prepared a gift - the musical "White Guard", for which Yuri Evgenievich wrote poetry

With Yuri Rybchinsky - a poet, playwright, author of a dozen musicals, one of the founders of the Ukrainian stage, without whose songs "Wild Geese", "Leaking Water", "Green Maple", "White Crow", "Vivat, King!" it is impossible to imagine - we talked not so much about poetry as about politics. We started with the premiere of his new offspring "The White Guard", whose heroes are the last people of duty and honor in the history of our recently common Fatherland, and ended with "freedom, equality and fraternity."

During the Orange Revolution, Yury Rybchinsky stood on the podium next to the future President Yushchenko, and in 2005, in an interview with Dmitry Gordon, he admitted that he had never experienced such a feeling as on the Maidan before - except perhaps at school history lessons, when you want to go to Rome as a gladiator Spartacus or take the Bastille, as in Paris in 1789.

Alas, it took not only my interlocutor, but most of us, quite a bit of time to be convinced of the truth of the statement of the French philosopher Pierre Boiste: “In revolutionary storms, people who are barely fit to row an oar master the helm.”

    Tatiana CHEBROVA
    "Gordon Boulevard"

"THE PHRASE: "QI HANDS DID NOT STOL ANYTHING" CAN BE INTERPRETED DIFFERENTLY"

Yuri Evgenievich, I want to ask you not only as a "White Guard", but also as a "perfumer" - do the people of Kiev have any hope of seeing these two musicals of yours?

The copyright issue for The Perfumer (based on the famous novel by Patrick Suskind) has already been resolved in the territory of the former CIS, so I can bring this musical performance to Kyiv, and Yekaterinburg residents will be the first to watch The White Guard ... For several years in a row, every May I do premiere: in 2007 in Moscow - "Perfume", the music for which was written by the composer Igor Demarin, and I - the libretto and lyrics. Last year in Kyiv at the Ivan Franko National Drama Theater - “Edith Piaf. Life on Credit" with music by Victoria Vasalatiy. This May in Yekaterinburg - the musical "White Guard", where the music of Mark Minkov, the composer who wrote for Pugacheva "Do not renounce, loving" and "Summer rains" will sound.

In "Perfumer" and "Edith Piaf" - the theme of love passions and talent, in "The White Guard" - revolutionary passions. Do you regret that you were on the Maidan?

What can I say now - I regret it, I don't regret it ... This is not disappointment in what happened to us - they betrayed us, not we them.

    - Such an emotional outburst happened - like first love ...

You don’t impose an answer on me (you asked a question and immediately answer it) - everyone had it in their own way. Unfortunately, politicians coming to power are not responsible for their election promises. I understand that not everything can be done, but there are the main, fundamental ones, for the sake of which people voted for them.

    - Many people think that your poem "Train" was written about Viktor Yushchenko...

Only one chapter is dedicated to him: “Victor takes the horn”.

    - Aren't these lines?

    Yesterday-the day before yesterday
    Ti viv on the barricade
    Yesterday-the day before yesterday
You are with us in hell liz.
    Ale to yourself tee
For the sake of that rule,
    Yaku ti with us together
    Hating when.

This is a warning to anyone who goes into power:

    ...Now you're sabotaging
    - having killed the prince in yourself,
having killed the prince in himself,
    when you become king...

    - Today you are - on the throne,
you are our king in law,
you are our king in law,
but we are not yours ...

Power requires a personal example. The phrase: “Qi hands did not steal anything” does not convince of anything - it can be interpreted in different ways. To put it bluntly: “They didn’t steal, they don’t steal, and they never will.” I will show you a lot of people who did not steal, but give them power - they will start immediately. Unfortunately, this is how it happened in our politics: if you have power and you don’t steal, most people at the top consider you a fool or a black sheep ...

The people are now beheaded. There is an uncontrollable horse, galloping no one knows where, followed by a headless horseman, followed by his head blown away by the wind - this is the whole Ukrainian history, unfortunately. "Bow b the head with the head, bow be the head on the horse."

“WHEN GOING TO THE MAIDAN WITH ANTI-CORRUPTION SLOGANS, WE GOT CORRUPTION 10 TIMES BIGGER THAN IN THE TIMES OF LEONID KUCHMA”

    - Viktor Andreevich is trying to turn society towards the national history, talking about spirituality...

If the President of the country utters some words, he must do something.

The Verkhovna Rada does not accept these laws - dissolve it. Be a strong person, and then, as in kindergarten: "Fool." - "You yourself are fools."

    - Sometimes an idealist leader is ahead of his time, and he has no one to rely on...

Yushchenko is not a leader at all. Yes, a person with moral principles, who truly loves Ukraine (by the way, it is difficult for us to understand what it means to be young, beautiful, full of strength and pay for the presidency with your health)...

    - It is not difficult to be an honest politician - there is almost no competition.

The president, the leader of any state, needs to be a high-class personnel officer (this is not given to everyone) - like Academician Korolev, who was not a great scientist or designer, but worked with physicists, mathematicians, engineers, being a brilliant organizer.

    - Or Ford with his eight-year-old and his hatred of academic education...

And Lobanovsky?

The peasant or workers' party is a dubbing of the trade union, because today I am a worker, and tomorrow I received a higher education and became an intellectual.

    - Ordinary people, golden people - a golden person is easier to sell ...

From the very beginning, we have chosen the model of a criminal-oligarchic state. Votes are bought for a lot of money, and Marx's formula "commodity - money - commodity" turns into another one - "money - power - money".

    - Voltaire also noted that kings know no more about the affairs of ministers than cuckolds about the tricks of their wives ...

Alas, to be successful, one had to have a different experience...

Some had more, others had less, but our current rulers were formed in the old system of values and could not have come true without the help of Kuchma.

The exhibition of the most expensive contemporary artist Damien Hirst, which recently opened at the PinchukArtCentre, has a painting called "Revolution" - a huge orange canvas thickly pasted over with real dead flies...

If we return to the topic of disappointments...

We are not talking about personalities - one could name all the names, but time has passed.

Except that in the days of Kravchuk it was free or cost a penny, and now even a candidate for city council deputies spends up to three million dollars.

    - Excellent investment! By the way, cheap politicians are especially expensive for the country.

If there are almost 300 millionaires in the Rada, this already says a lot.

All this is similar to the disputes about the legalization of prostitution, which there is no way to end anywhere in the world: some give money for pleasure, others accept and provide certain services.

    - As Marlene Dietrich said: "A country without a brothel is like a house without a bathroom."

The sale of the soul also requires legalization.

“WE STILL BELIEVE THAT THE PATIENCE OF THE PEOPLE IS UNLIMITED”

    - Are the people waiting for a firm ruler?

Firm and fair, to come and put things in order. In Soviet times, we in Kyiv or Moscow could return home at three in the morning (watch the film "July Rain") - we were not afraid of anyone. Now we are trembling - they can shoot the objectionable in full view of the crowd, turn around and leave.

“Our streets are completely safe, only people on the streets are dangerous,” one of the former mayors of Philadelphia formulated this problem ...

Imagine what will happen in America when the standard of living goes down there - a motley society where the common denominator is only the dollar, many families have firearms. I'm afraid we will live to see a new civil war in the United States... Now the attitude to material wealth is being revised all over the world...

    - Because of the systemic crisis?

Many call it a crisis, but I say the end of the world. The light that America was for us - a country of freedom and equal opportunities. It turned out that the American model of the consumer society leads to a dead end.

    - States have lived in debt for decades ...

The standard of American living was high largely due to other people's money. This is the pyramid of Mavrodi, only on a national scale (no wonder the pyramid is depicted on a dollar bill). In short, not only hard times await us.

    - It's not so bad that they give half a ruble for a ruble, but that they will give in the face for a ruble, as Saltykov-Shchedrin wrote?

The most important thing for our country is to stop in time to think where to go. The course that Ukraine should move is more important than the hryvnia exchange rate.

In America, a person who withholds funds from taxes is considered a state criminal. He can be imprisoned for life, sometimes they give 125 years, or even 300 ...

The fiscal system, like it or not, exists. And we are all sure that the upper echelon of power in most cases either does not pay taxes at all, or reduces them by 10 times ...

Making out real estate, shares and accounts for the adoptive parents of the fifth wife or grand-nephews with disabilities on the paternal side of the second cousin.

When you read their declarations, it is not clear where they got limousines, yachts, villas from.

    - It seems that for the second time, or rather, for the third, Maidan will remain half empty ...

For social cataclysms, society does not need to seethe all the time - in 2003 it was calm, and in 1916, and in 1904.

We live in a very fragile world, where only a return to spiritual values can give (not to say - a bright future) a normal life.

    Pinochet is not our option.

    - And Putin?

Well, God forbid!

This was not even under Stalin. Putin could almost recreate the Union, and not by force - at the expense of gas and oil to make the average standard of living in the Russian Federation such that Belarusians and Ukrainians (and the material moment is very important for people) would say: we also want to live in union with Russia .

A country where a pleasing oligarch sits in London, and another (same, but objectionable) is imprisoned - this is for most of us, Ukrainians, a visual aid of how we do not want to live.

The intelligentsia understands that we don't want to, but what about the bulky people? I will never forget how the director of the satirical film "Fountain" Yuri Mamin breathlessly, lowering his voice to an enthusiastic whisper, pronounced Putin's name: "Vladi-i-ymir Vladi-i-imirovich" ...

The same and Mikhalkov, and Bortko ...

"It's DANGEROUS TO FALL INTO THE ACCEPTS WITH AMERICA AND RUSSIA"

Some confuse the concepts of "fatherland" and "your excellency." But to a simple Russian, that is, to the layman, whether there is freedom of conscience or not, it doesn’t matter: the TV will quite honestly show them football, shooters, serials, staged talk shows ...

They themselves are to blame. Where is the so-called conscience of the nation, those who brought Yeltsin to power? They could create an entire faction in the State Duma and achieve results, only they dissolved - because they were given the opportunity to go into business and suddenly become rich.

    - ... Brodsky ...

If it were only our misfortune, but, alas, so - all over the world.

Above the idea, above the people who implemented it...

    - ...and have long decayed in the graves. You wrote in your "Train":

So quiet. I look so clean
Nemov died the remaining communist ...

The communists were different: Pavka Korchagin or Vasily Gubanov, played by Yevgeny Urbansky, are also right, like millions of decent talented members of the CPSU, destroyed by the same social machine. On our soil, freedom has grown into lawlessness, equality - into leveling, and brotherhood - into Russification.

Now the crisis has leveled everyone in uncertainty about the future. By the way, the man who allegedly started this crisis recently committed suicide - the financial director of the American mortgage agency Freddie Mac, 41-year-old David Kellerman.

America will come out of the crisis, it has both strategic reserves and the reins with which it rules the world. Therefore, from my point of view, the best position for Ukraine is not to be fastened to anyone, not to be at enmity with anyone, like Finland, Norway, Switzerland ...

    - ... with its cantons - they are also regions where they speak German, French, Italian, but everyone is fine.

It is dangerous to fall into the abyss with both America and Russia. We still have the right...

    - ... to your own abyss.

To your oasis, where you don't have to gorge yourself on bacon and tomatoes, but build a moral country. When the last day comes, it is easier to leave for those who, looking back, rejoice that they were able to take place spiritually. If you leave the villas, yachts, the Chelsea team ... I can imagine how hard it will be for Abramovich to die.
